Wuzhen is a scenic town located 17 kilometers north of Tongxiang in the Zhejiang Province, China. The old town lies in between 2 provinces (Zhejiang and Jiangsu), 3 prefectures (Jiaxing, Huzhou and Suzhou) and 7 counties (Wucheng, Guian, Chongde, Tongxiang, Xiushui, Wujiang and Zhenze).

Wuzhen is one of the 6 ancient towns located in the south of Yangtze River. It is said that people have lived in Wuzhen for 7,000 years. Wuzhen’s uniqueness lies in its age-old dwelling houses along the canal. Residents here build houses above the water by driving stone or wooden piles into the riverbed. There are also numerous ancient stone bridges floating above the water. One may also walk amongst the old streets between the walls with delicate wood carvings.
